studio hazards and housekeeping

Members use the club at their own risk and must be aware of the inherent hazards of a working pottery studio environment. These risks include the use of sharp tools, exposure to chemicals and high temperatures amongst other things.

All members should wear appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat enclosed shoes with non-slip soles. Casual clothing is recommended. Long hair must be tied back for wheel-work and jewellery and watches are best left at home.

Please note that we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing or loss of valuables.

All members will receive a short induction on health and safety before commencing their first session.

Members are required to assist in leaving the studio clean and tidy at the end of each session. This includes thoroughly washing down the table and any equipment used, including returning the clean dry equipment to where it belongs.

Storage in the Shorncliffe Pottery Club Inc. is limited. Unclaimed belongings and works not collected within four weeks of being fired will be sent offsite for recycling or disposal unless prior arrangements have been made with the kiln firing team.

Shelf stored works can remain as long as the membership is active, any pause in the membership greater than four months will require the shelf to be cleared and the work disposed of, or recycled.

We will attempt to contact the member regarding their works prior to this situation occurring.
